Biography

Juleen Rodakowski, OTD, MS, OTR/L, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Occupational Therapy in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Dr. Rodakowski investigates effective interventions to support family-centered care with the goal of allowing elderly adults to age in place.

Dr. Rodakowski’s research examines individual and system wide implications of including caregivers in healthcare settings. As part of Aim 1 of The Caregiver Project, she studied the implication of including caregivers in the discharge process on hospital stays and readmissions. This resulted in a groundbreaking publication in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (Rodakowski J, JAGS, 2017). Dr. Rodakowski expanded on this work as she led Aim 3 of The Caregiver Project, which evaluated the implementation of the CARE Act at the system level in local UPMC hospitals.
